I am an Indigenous abiding member of my community and I feel totally let down with the lack of employed Indigenous workers in the government departments here in Sydney, especially in our suburbs that have a high Indigenous population. I have more them 50 plus times requested an indigenous liasion support person and in honesty have still yet to meet one: but yet there is an abundance of workers for every other speaking ethinicity which in truth confuses myself as I thought the language one must know and speak when they migrate is suppose to be the english language; yet the government sectors are flooded with every nationality in high volume but Indigenous once again we have been robbed. I am an educated person who is a law abiding unemployed female and I apply on a quite day a minimum of 200 plus positions and nothing. Another thing is I have applied for numerous roles that were suppose to be indigenous roles and I will continue to follow up only to be told the roles have fallen through due to once again the funding not been approved, so I wish to voice my voice and if need be I am able to even participate by being a voice for the generation one, we need to be heard and we need for their to be a positive outcome not just for us in the here and now but for our up and coming brother and sisters of our proud race.
Please find attached a simple version of my resume so you may see I am educated and have worked and been a mother of one with which I am proud as she will be off to university next year.
And sadly in the places I have done temp work over the years and the attitude of people still is poorly when it comes to our proud people/race, there picture of us is a poor one and in some places when I have been found to be a indigenous person they have shut down on me and even gone to the lengths to have me replaced.
But I do my people proud and hold my head high and speak and hold my composure at all times, with this I hope the injustice starts a change as they say it begins with one.
