I am a sculptor and sometimes I get requests from people wanting to work with me to get experience.
I want to make the point that there is no apprenticeship system for the arts. Art schools teach less and less technique and business skills and do not equip their students with the information to live as artist. Real training must include what is needed to deal with clients and business situations, the skills to handle commissions and the technical expertise to complete projects on time and to budget.
