Margaret Hawke - Western Australia

Hi everyone this is such a great opportunity for our people and through working together in coming with ideas to help our future generation have a better understanding and start through life. I am just an everyday indigenous Australian but have met alot of people from different areas from small towns to the bush communities even to the bigger towns and cities and one things for sure is by helping our people to be educated and have an employment where they can feel good for themselves and have a chance in the futures to come.
I had an idea to organise with different communities and groups across Australia to start with some forms of training for example before my uncle had passed away he had organised a small business within our little community wich gave people chance to learn and be employed he started by finding a area of land where we could work and put together our ideas it was just a rose garden that turned to something bigger, through having a variety of flowers, vegetables and fruits then came a construction group which helped so much in a lot of ways they worked on the housings around and built parks and even fencing for alot of families I see this is a great start he had created for my people which they looked forward to learning, working and building there community and stoped alot of matters like violence, drugs and alcohol, which we know is a very big issue our people are still trying to over come. This is a start of something but by us all working together indigenous and non we can help build these communities for a stronger future. Every place and groups are different but Im sure there's alot of ideas to help start somewhere; whether its through music, dancing, art, foods, construction, fishing, farming, clothings, traditional items as tools, baskets, musical instruments, medical etc. There's so much ideas out there we just need the chance to work together and start somewhere.
