I believe cultural awareness training is important so that all people feel welcome and accepted as valued employees. It is also important for non Indigenous staff to have an understanding of the history of dispossession of Aboriginal people. At our organisation I would like to have yarning circles that include staff from various cultural backgrounds to share their stories and to develop a greater appreciation of each other. At the end of the day, it is about treating each other with dignity and respect no matter who you are.
