Burswood offers the opportunity of a real job. It’s a foot in the door to a business where there is so much scope and opportunity for a career path.
There are two employment pathways for job-seekers:
There are over 400 different job roles across the Complex, ranging from croupiers to room attendants, electricians to accountants, and food and beverage attendants to apprentice chefs. Somewhere in there is a potential role and career for everyone.
In 2008, The Aboriginal Employment Covenant (AEC) was launched and Crown Limited was the first Company to sign up. By May 2009, the program was launched with the appointment of an Aboriginal Program Coordinator, Ms Christine Ross.
Always looking to the future, Burswood is in the middle of a renovation and reconstruction phase. With the opening of new restaurants and bars, and other significant developments Complex-wide, we are committed to increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees from the current 40.
Burswood employees benefit from strong and committed leadership from our Senior Management Team, as well as the support of our Aboriginal Program Coordinator and Program Mentor.
Transitioning new employees into a business such as Burswood is not always easy. New recruits need to find the balance between shiftwork and outside interests including their family obligations and their lifestyle. The first six months test peoples commitment to a job, particularly when it involves shiftwork and settling into a new team.
To support our new employees, our Aboriginal Program Coordinator and Mentor meet with them regularly on an individual, daily or weekly basis. Any problems or concerns from both sides are discussed and solutions found to ensure their success in their new role.
We are extremely proud to say that Burswood has contributed to many great success stories all of which you can read here:
