Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience

Overview:

AIME (Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience) is an Indigenous Corporation, a not-for-profit charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. AIME Indigenous Corporation provides a six-year Mentoring Program for Indigenous Australian students to access while undertaking their high school studies from Year 7 through to Year 12. AIME partners university student volunteers in a one-on-one mentoring relationship with a high school Indigenous student, for an hour a week over the course of a 17-week program. AIME's goals are to improve Year 10 completion rates, Year 12 completion rates and university admission rates for all participating students.

AIME uses a unique style of structured education-based mentoring to link university students in a one-on-one relationship with Indigenous high school students.

Opportunities:

AIME's core mentor base is it's University student volunteers, but beyond that there are a number of ways that you can connect. For starters you can join the AIME Friends group that will get exclusive updates about new AIME TV episodes, latest news from the kids on the ground, and upcoming events. Practically you can connect with AIME during their two events, AIME National Hoodie Day on July 21 and AIME Strut the Streets in Sydney in December. Other ways to get involved include applying for jobs at AIME, volunteering in the office or at events, and finally by supporting AIME financially to help get out and reach more Indigenous kids around the nation and give them the chance to get through school at the same rate as every Australian child.
