April 30, 2012 10,000 Indigenous jobs filled under Australian Employment Covenant   The Australian Employment Covenant (“AEC”) reached a major milestone, celebrating the filling of 10,000 Covenant jobs with indigenous employees. New figures from employers who signed with the AEC have revealed 10,501 indigenous Australians are now off welfare and working. The ’50,000 jobs campaign’ is an employer-led initiative that brings all Australians together to break the vicious cycle of unemployment, hopelessness and poverty that exists among too many Indigenous Australians. GenerationOne Case Studies Share Indigenous Employment Success

A new report commissioned by GenerationOne has revealed ISS, Burswood Entertainment Complex, Crown Melbourne Ltd, Skill360 Australia, Karen Sheldon Catering and Woolworths are leading employers helping to break down the barriers to Aboriginal employment. These six employers participated in the enlightening case studies project, which overwhelmingly shows that establishing effective Indigenous Employment Programs is possible. GenerationOne Policy Launch

GenerationOne has this morning released an Indigenous training policy: Career Ready - Vocational Training and Employment Centres (VTEC).   The policy launched today by Deb Nelson, Managing Director of Yaran’n Aboriginal Employment services, advocates for an employer-driven training process that eliminates training for training’s sake and replaces it with training for a guaranteed job.   It advocates the development of Vocational Training and Employment Centres (VTECs) around Australia, starting with four demonstration sites.
