Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott says differences between the Coalition and Treasury's costings will not affect the Coalition's ability to negotiate with Independent MPs. Treasury has discovered a shortfall of between $7b and $11b in costings of the Federal Opposition's policies. Moore introduces ABC political editor Chris Uhlmann.
Uhlmann reports that Independent MPs Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor have expressed their confidence in Treasury Secretary Ken Henry. He says the Coalition's resistance in submitting their costing looks 'untidy'. Hosts discuss a meeting between Oakeshott, Windsor and Fortescue Metals CEO Andrew Forrest. Uhlmann says the meeting took place at 'Ozzy's', Parliament House, in full view. Oakeshott says the group discussed the 'Generation One' program, which aims to encourage Aboriginal people into the workforce and the mining tax. Independent MP Andrew Wilkie will hold a press conference at 3.30pm. Uhlmann says Oakeshott has suggested he will make a decision by Monday.
