Schools rap to close gap
The Advertiser October 18th 2010 PEMBROKE College and Marree Aboriginal School are aiming to beat indigenous disadvantage, and they are rapt with the results. The schools, who share a 15-year partnership, have won a national prize for their creative version ofHands Across Australia, the theme song of GenerationOne , an organisation working to close the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians. As part of the competition, students were challenged to film their own version of the song, including an original rap, and explain what they would do to address the issue of indigenous disadvantage.
