Hands Across Australia School Competition 2011

Entries close today for this years competition!  From all over Australia school age children have come together to sing the Generation One theme song. The words "if you help me and I help you think of all the things that we could do" have been the inspiration for raps, dances and even a flash mob!  The 2011 School Song Competition entries close today. The Inaugural Milimika Festival

Milimika festival has joined the ever-growing festival list on the Indigenous calendar. Festivals like this are a great way for Aboriginal people to share their culture and community with the rest of Australia and the world. Whether it be The Dreaming festival or The Milimika festival, you are sure to be introduced to diverse and culturally rich environments at these events.  The smell of clean crisp ocean hits your face as you travel across a majestic, timeless body of water. Darwin shrinks on the horizon and you get an overwhelming sense of energy from across the blue.  Upon arrival at Nguiu on Melville Island, locals and festival volunteers greeted us. Information for Indigenous Leadership (Youth 18-25)

Certificate II in Indigenous Leadership (for Youth) The following course  is targeted at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged between 18 and 25 years of age.    3rd – 8th November 2011 Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT)   The Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre (AILC) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) offering nationally recognised training.   The AILC now invites applications from eligible Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for the above course.   The Certificate II in Indigenous Leadership introduces key elements of Indigenous leadership in Australia. Break Down the Barriers to Work

After a series of forums from Melbourne to Darwin, and the Gove Peninsula to Western Sydney, the Big Yarns and Little Yarns on the GenerationOne Skills and Training for a Career draft policy wrapped up last week. In the final week of the yarns, GenerationOne met up with employers and service providers from the Northern Territory and Queensland, many whom have signed up to the Australian Employment Covenant. It’s clear that while some employers are well into their journey and have a lot of experiences to share, others are only just starting out but are eager to learn from others and collaborate....
